Careful! Night Danger is back, and this time it’s strictly “OFFICIAL BUSINESS.” The latest maxi-single from the Several Sounds Resource Centre finds Derek “ZONES” Mckeon and James “James Ready” Mackey further expanding upon the dangerous signature sound. Originally conceived as a DJ tool secret weapon, then expanded upon at multiple recording studios resulting in three radically different mixes. Midi info has been warped and dubbed almost beyond recognition, yet all containing different elements of danger.
Maxi kicks off with the break heavy ‘Street Beat’, its bassbin rattling low-end, hypnotic flanged chord memory and squiggly detroit energy creates a heavy set of pot-smoked electro. Next we’re met with after-hours prog euphoria on the ‘Acid FX’ mix, this time with the psychedelia turned up past eleven. Cleverly packed percussion with an elastic bounce zooms in on a hypnotic groove ready to ignite any sound-system to stonehenge and back. The ‘Original Mix’ brings a bit of a gear shift toward late 80s US garage, vintage sampler orchestra stabs with some of the signature dangerous skippy and chunky drum programming. Rounding out the four tracker is a suitably trippy remix from Florida native Hunter P. Thompson, aka Akasha System, aka DJ Panthr. The 100% Silk alum & Image Research Records boss turns in a dark & hazy dub, opening a smoked out eco-tech wormhole and spacious dub techno atmosphere. Stay safe out there.
